Kagadi District primary Kids athletics were concluded on Wednesday 19th/04/2023 with Kitegwa zone emerging as the champions of both under 12 and 14 Primary Kids athletics 2023 at Kitegwa Model Primary school in Rutete Town council Kagadi District.
The school were clustered into 4 zones including Kagadi. Mabaale, Kitegwa and Maberenga,
While declaring the winners the Secretary organizing committee Lucky Edward said Kitegwa zone was declared champions having scored the lowest aggregates in both under 12 and 14 categories.
Kitegwa zone scored 102 and 112 aggregates in U-12 and U-14 respectively, Kagadi 112 and 118, Mabaale 169 and 138 Mabarenga 173 and 170
The Sports Officer Kagadi District John Mugume said it’s a policy from the ministry of education and sports for every school to participate in athletics and vowed to follow up on schools that didn’t participate in this year’s athletics.
While addressing the gathering the chief guest and the inspector of schools Aganyira Alice Claire urged schools to embrace co-curricular activities since they help in increasing enrollment in schools and promote talents among children.
Sanyu Joseph the zonal chairperson Kitegwa attributed the success to displine and determination among children.
A total of 16 athletes have been selected from various zones to represent the district at National primary kids Athletics and special needs learners (SNE) champions ship which will be held at Luwero Boys Primary school in Luwero District from 7th-16th May 2023
