State Minister for Environment Launches FRECAR Project in Albertine Lift Valley

The state minister for water and environment Beatrice Anywar has launched forest restoration and carbon absorption project in Albertan lift Valley.

The lunch was held last evening in Nyamarunda Sub County, Kibaale district at Kanaga lc1 in Kagombe forest central reserve with the planting of a tree.

While launching the project that will last for 25years Anywar asked all Ugandans to embrace environmental protection for better tomorrow as they do environmental friendly activities siting bee keeping fish farming among others.

She contributed 500,000sh to the collaborative forestry management teams that is working with world wide fund for nature, national forest authority to restore Kagombe forest central reserve.

The country director for world wide fund for nature funding forest restoration and carbon absorption project in the districts of Kagadi, Kibaale, Kikuube, Kyenjojo and Kyegegwa David Duli revealed that their aim is recover 9000hectares, in Kagombe, Bugoma, Ibambara and Kiticura forests.

Tom Okello Ebongo, the executive director National forest authority revealed that they are in the process of demarcating Kagombe forest central reserve saying boundary re-opening was completed 2018 saying up to now some people are not contented.

Speaking to our reporter some of the collaborative forestry management team member that are working with national forest authority, world wide fund for nature and Kitara civil society organization network to restore the forest revealed that they are happily working towards restoring the forest.
