The Chairperson Roads committee who doubles as Kagadi district woman Member of Parliament Hon Janepher Kyomuhendo Mbabazi and other committee members have monitored roads that were constructed in the 2022/2023 Financial Year in the two constituencies of Buyaga East and Buyaga West that make up the Kagadi district
The monitoring exercise was a follow up on government funds released under two categories of Uganda Road Fund and Transitional Fund equivalent to sh. 718 million.
Other committee members included the MP Buyaga East Eric Musana Acaali, he Chief Administrative officer, Epodoi Pauline, District chairperson Yosia Ndibwami, district vice chairperson and also secretary works, Peter Mugisa Sebugwaho, Mayors of Town councils, District Engineer Robert Bukenya who is also the committee secretary.
They inspected the 19KM Kyadyoko,-Kabamba-Kasimbi road sh90 million, 11.4KM Mabaale-Nyabutanzi-Kyamasega road valued at sh75 million, a 22KM Kiryani-Ruteete-Kisuura 100m road and Buraza- Kayanja- Nyankoma road
Jennipher however expressed concern over unspent funds meant for road construction under works department as we move towards the closure of the financial year.
She further noted good works along Kyadyoko,-Kabamba-Kasimbi, Mabaale-Nyabutanzi-Kyamasega and noted faults on Kiryani-Ruteete-Kisuura road.
The Chief Administrative officer Epodoi Pauline noted a fair funding for the sector and promised to use the available funds to improve the road network in the District.
Hon Eric Musana Acaali asked the ministry of works to add the district more road equipment unit to back up in rehabilitation of roads in the 35 lower local governments in Kagadi district.
Benjamin Tumusiime, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner says despite the few anomalies, there is some good work done and that there is value for money though there are delays in completion of the works.
