The women Member of Parliament for Kagadi Jennipher Kyomuhendo Mbabazi has confirmed that the belated women’s day celebration have been scheduled for 28th April this year.
The event will be held in Mabaale playground in Mabaale town council Kagadi District.
Jennipher made the revelation while addressing various stakeholders during the first preparatory meeting held at Mabaale community Hall Mabaale town council.
She revealed that the minister of lands Judith Nabakooba is expected to be the Chief Guest and pledged support of 300kgs of meat, 10 tents plus chairs, public address systems and decoration.
She has called upon different stakeholder in the district to support the function.
However women in Kagadi have welcomed the day with joy asserting that this is a sign of women emancipation.
The national celebrations were held on Wednesday, March 8 2023 at Kaaro Secondary School, Kiruhura District under the theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is, “Digital Innovation and technology for gender equality.”
Since then, March 8 was designated to celebrate annually and globally the social, economic and political achievements of women.
International Women’s Day 2023 will explore the impact of the digital gender gap on widening economic and social inequalities; spotlight the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces and address online and ICT-facilitated gender-based violence.
