In a bid to increase water coverage in Kagadi, the district leadership has launched the construction of 12 boreholes in the District for FY 2022/2023 worth 263,942,400 Shillings.
The launching exercise was held at one of the drilling sites in Kaitemba LCI Mabaale Sub county Kagadi District
The 12 projects are located in villages of Kijagi, Karalike, Kimanya A, Kigwabya, Muzizi Ps, Nyampindu, Lyanda SDA P/s, Kitugu, Kaitemba Trading Centre, Kiryanjagi, Nyambouzi and Rwemango
According to the Assistant water Engineer Robert Mugume formation and training of water user committees is complete in order to ensure Operation and Maintenance of water sources.
He added that the project contains drilling, casting and installation as per the agreement signed between Kagadi District local government and Dharani the contractor.
While presiding over the launching exercise, Resident District commissioner Kagadi Nicholas Kamukama Kaine urged residents to always own government projects.
On behalf of the Chief Administrative officer, the Principal Assistant Secretary Edward Bisangabasaija urged sub county technical staff to embark on community sensitization on the advantages of clean and safe water.
He further tasked residents to work hard if development is to be realized in their respective areas.
LCV Chairperson Kagadi Ndibami B Yosia urged water user committees to always mobilize community members through collecting user fee for operation and mainteince purposes
On behalf of residents the LC111 Chairperson Mabaale Nseka Kizito hailed team work better civil servants and political wing and is optimistic that the projects will provide clean and safe water to the residents.
According to the water department statistics, the water coverage percentage stands at 56% sanitation and Hygiene 69% while hand washing stands at 33%.
