Kagadi District Local Government has officially handed over the Kinyakairu piped water system to Midwestern Umbrella of Water and Sanitation for proper maintenance.
The handed over function was held at Kinyakairu Primary School in Kabamba Sub county.
Kinyakairu piped water system, was constructed by World Vision at a cost of shs 830 million
Robert Bukenya the Ag District Engineer revealed that the system will be extended to other areas by Midwestern Umbrella.
Resident District Commissioner Lillian Ruteraho urged residents to work with the umbrella to sustain the water system and improve sanitation to prevent diseases.
Engineer Amon Rwakiza, Cluster Manager for Bunyoro Region, asked for cooperation from residents for the sustainability of the water system.
He announced plans to extend the piped water to other areas, with affordable pricing of shs 100 per jerrycan in public places and shs 2,290 for 50 jerrycans in private connections using an electronic payment system.
Residents of Kinyakairu commended World Vision for providing access to safe water.
