Kagadi District Council has unanimously resolved to rename two government infrastructure projects in Greater Rugashali in honor of the late councillor Oliver Namukisa, who represented Kyakabadiima and Burora Sub-counties.
Namukisa passed away on Tuesday, July 29, at Kagadi General Hospital due to complications from diabetes and high blood pressure.
The decision was made during an extraordinary council session held at the district headquarters and chaired by District Speaker Magezi Muwonge.
The session was convened to pay tribute to Namukisa’s significant contributions to the development of Kagadi District.
As part of the resolution, the council agreed to rename one classroom block at Kyakabadiima Primary School and the Kyakabadiima–Kituugu–Nyamigisa–Burora–Kayembe–Nguse road in her memory.
District Chairperson Ndibwami B. Yosia reassured council members of the full maintenance of these infrastructures, emphasizing their significance as they traverse areas formerly represented by the late Namukisa.
Council members, including Speaker Magezi Muwonge, praised Namukisa’s role in the creation of Kagadi District and her leadership in championing women’s rights and upholding cultural values.
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Vicente Kyaligonza, representing the CAO, described the deceased as a promoter of peace and community development during her reign of service.
He hailed her as an exemplary leader dedicated to the district’s progress.
Woman Member of Parliament Janepher Kyomuhendo Mbabazi eulogized the late Namukisa as a pillar of leadership, a mother to all, and a woman of integrity. She called on fellow leaders to carry forward her legacy of service and commitment.
