The Resident District Commissioner Kagadi Carolyn Kashaija Muyambi Nashemeza has today handed over brand new Toyata Hilux Registration Number UG 34000-81 to the office of the District Chairperson.
The vehicle was received by the District Chairperson Ndibwami B Yosia at the District Headquarters in Kagadi Town council.
The Ministry of Local Government recently handed over 176 new vehicles to local leaders, including 135 District Chairpersons, 10 City Mayors, and 31 Municipal Leaders.
This initiative, part of a pledge by President Museveni, aims to enhance the capacity of local governments to monitor government programs and improve service delivery.
While presiding over the function Carolyn noted that it was long overdue since the office of the District Chairperson lacked transport means to monitor the implementation of government programs and emphasized on proper and transparent use.
Epodoi Pauline Opio the Chief Administrative Officer Kagadi said the vehicle will be managed under the district fleet management Policy as well as guild lines issued by the Ministry of local government.
District Chairperson Kagadi Ndibwami B Yosia is optimistic that with reliable transport means there will be effective monitoring and supervision of government programs and ensuring value for money.
The function was attended by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Kagadi Jeremy Namanya, Ag District Engineer Robert Bukenya, Media among others.
