Kagadi district local government has launched the construction of a 25 kilometer Namilyango-Nyankoma-Buraza-Mpeefu Ya Sande-Kobushera road that will cost 140M shillings.
The launching exercise was presided over by Kagadi Deputy Resident District Commissioner Jeremy Namanya held at Kikunyu trading centre in Mairiwe sub county.
The road project will connect five lower local government of Kagadi, Galiboleka. Mairiwe, Mpeefu Ya sande town council and Mpeefu Sub County.
Upon completion, the project will drive economic growth by connecting producers to markets, facilitating trade, and reducing transportation costs, provide crucial social access to education, healthcare, and jobs, while enabling door-to-door transportation of goods and people.
Namanya urged residents to embrace commercial agriculture to increase food production and improve their homestead incomes.
He further cautioned parents to school drops outs which result to early marriages and pregnancies.
Charles Byaruhanga the superintendent of works explained that busy clearing, Grading, Gravelling, Filling, Stone pitching and culvert installation are some of the crucial planned activities contained in the Bills of Qualities.
He further urged residents to support the project by offering murrum for the project.
The District Chairperson noted that several roads have been worked on during his term of office and re-echoed on peace and security is one of the key fundaments of development.
He appeals to residents to ensure regular maintenance of the road through community service drives.
Meanwhile, residents commended the district leadership for the project which was last rehabilitated in 2021/2022 financial year.
