Program to improve sexual reproductive health policy Environment in Uganda (PROMISE 11) in Uganda with funding from Danish Ministry of Foreign affairs implemented by Reproductive Health Uganda has phased out in Kagadi District.
Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU) and its partners converged at People’s Hope Hotel in Kagadi for the celebration and official closure of a four-year Sexual and Reproductive Health project implemented in Rugashari Town council and Kyaterekera Subcounty.
The project was implemented by Reproductive Health Uganda in conjunction with Kagadi District Local Government and the Inter-Faith Network-Kagadi Chapter.
Speaking during the project closure, the Deputy Kagadi Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Yiga Martin Paul, underscored the need for a conducive environment for Sexual and Reproductive Health services and programs to thrive.
Yiga commended Reproductive Health Uganda for strengthening the capacity of district civil servants, including Community Development Officers and health workers, who have worked closely with the project throughout its implementation promising that the project will continue as it will be integrated district development plan.
RHU Director of Programmes Annet Kyarimpa Mugabe said the project mainly focused on reproductive health, climate change and live hood programs.
She said RHU promoted environmental conservation through activities such as tree planting, while also providing communities with information on family planning.
She has encouraged beneficiaries to continue using the skills they gained and share their knowledge with other community members.
Meanwhile, Namara Rozet, Secretary of Namirembe Women’s Group in Rugashari Town Council, said the project empowered women to understand and defend their rights, improve their livelihoods, and access reproductive health information.
The Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Kagadi, Namanya Jeremy, thanked RHU and its partners for providing reproductive health and climate-change services to communities in the district.
Namanya has urged beneficiaries to maintain the projects started under the programme and make good use of the skills they acquired.
