There was excitement and joy among local residents of Rutete town council in Kagadi District as the district leadership launched the construction of a 22km Kiryane-Rutete-Kisura Road worth 100 million.
The project which was launched at Ruteete town council headquarters passes through 6 lower local governments of Kagadi and Ruteete town councils, Galiboleka sub county, Mairirwe Subcounty, Mpeefu Ya Sande town council and Bwikara Sub County.
Speaking to residents, the road will boost the transportation of agricultural products especially Banana from Mpeefu Sub county since it’s one of the sub counties that grow bananas in the district.
Benjamin Tumusiime, the Deputy Resident District commissioner Kagadi said the project implies the government is implementing Infrastructure and economic services, pillars 2 of parish development model
The Woman Member of Parliament Kagadi Kyomuhendo Jennifer Mbabazi who doubles as the Chairperson Roads committee said in the last financial year the district faced Budget cuts under Uganda Road fund which affected road maintenance and construction.
The LCV Chairperson Kagadi Ndiwami B Yosia told the meeting the Umbrella of water and sanitation will carry out water extension to different areas after residents complained of water scarcity in Mutunda LC1.
The Chief Administrative officer Kagadi Epodoi Pauline tasked local leaders to always make informed decisions if development is to be attained in their respective areas.
