Kagadi district local government last evening disbursed Sixty-Eight Million, Nine hundred thirty thousand shillings (68,930,000) to the 12 youth groups from the five sub-counties and four town councils under Youth Livelihood Program (YLP).
The 12 beneficiary groups are from the lower local governments of Kagadi, Mabaale, Mpeefu Yasande, and Muhorro town councils, Kyakabadima, Kanyabebe, Kyenzige, Kagadi, and Mpeefu Subcounties.
According to the data from office of the YLP Focal person, Kagadi district has disbursed a total of 1.5Bn Shillings to the youth groups since its inception FY2014/15 under the Youth Livelihood Program to171 youth groups and a total of 468million has been recovered.
Speaking to the beneficiaries at Kagadi community hall during a One-day orientation meeting, the Kagadi Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Nicholas Kamukama Kaine urged the youth groups to incorporate women as members since are family bread winners, good finance managers and exbit high level of trustworthy.
Epodoi Pauline Opio the Kagadi District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) has challenged the beneficiaries to invest the funds in the selected enterprises and refund it to enable other members also benefit from the program.
Meanwhile the Kagadi district Youth Chairperson Herbert Nuwagaba says the Program was on halt for the last two years and later revived after several engagement with the president by the youth leaders.
He says they will advocate for more funding for the program on the national platforms so as to enable the youth fight poverty.
The beneficiaries were oriented on financial management, record keeping, Procurement process among others.
