In a bid to improve performance in schools, officials from the Education department together with headteachers from the 136-government aided primary schools in Kagadi District have lined up various activities in preparation for second term re-opening on Monday 29th/05/2023
The number of strategies has been agreed upon during a one-day Term 11 preparatory meeting organized by Education department consisting of head teachers from government aided schools held at Kagadi Model Primary School in Kagadi town council, Kagadi District.
According to the District Inspector of schools Omukwenda Julius Alinda the activities include continuous assessment of learners, conducting mini workshops on strategies to improve performance, holding staff, school management and parents meeting, monitoring and inspection of schools, co-curricular activities i.e. ball games, music dance and girl guide, integrated inspectorate system, preparation for teaching (schemes of work and lessons plans among others
The Deputy Chief Administrative officer Kagadi Robert Mugabe attributed conflicts in schools as a result of poor information flow to key stakeholder.
He urged headteachers to always disclose grants received, share work plans and budgets to SMC, PTA members and other key stakeholders for transparency purposes.
Robert assured civil servants fair promotion basing on performance for employees due as per civil service guiding policies.
The District Education officer condemned corporal punishments on children in both private and government aided schools and tasked inspector of schools and head teachers to report staff involved for displinary actions
A person who subjects a child to corporal punishment commits an offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or to a fine not exceeding one hundred currency points or both.”
